Giggle has been based on the Paintworks in Bristol since 2012. But with the majority of our competitors in London, why are we here?

Well, there’s a huge digital industry – gaming, web, mobile – dozens of creative agencies are located in the city. A thriving industry brings with it a lot of creative freelancers, particularly designers and illustrators. There are also top creative universities on our doorstep in UWE and Bath Spa University offering degrees in creative communication, Animation, Graphic Design and Media Practice. Our very own Ed Vosper is an alumni of UWE.

In terms of animation, it was Aardman (Wallace & Gromit) founded in 1976 who were the pioneers, and the reason much of the animation landscape is the way it is today. The BBC too have a influence; in 1991 the BBC formed the Animation Initiative in Bristol with an aim of working with independent animation companies, and the BBC’s Natural History Unit has been based in Broadcasting House, Bristol since its formation in 1957, first headed up by Sir David Attenbourgh.

Production companies have followed and countless studios have sprung up in the area including Films@59, Omni Productions, Tiger Aspect, and best of all Studio Giggle.

The city is creatively inspiring with the M Shed and the Bristol Hippodrome not to mention around 15 cinemas including some stunning independent venues.

Good transport links and a direct train to Paddington mean we can attend client meetings and get to our events with ease. Bristol even has it’s own airport.

The South West is a vibrant, friendly, colourful place to be.

In 2015 Bristol was awarded the European Green Capital Award

In 2017 Bristol was voted “the best place to live in Britain” and “The coolest City in the UK”

So, if you’re ever in the area, come and say Hi! 🙂
